Eagles Stump College of Alameda

Mendocino College Men's Basketball upsets previously first place College of Alameda 75-70 in Bay Valley Conference play Wednesday evening at home. COA, coached by NBA Hall of Fame point guard, Gary Payton Sr. entered the contest with a perfect 5-0 league record. 

 The Eagles played well as a unit and the chemistry showed both defensively and offensively. It was a great team win with the Eagles putting two solid halves together and finishing the game with poise and composure. 

 6-1 point guard, Teague Stump, a true freshman out of Rocky Boy High School in Box Elder, Montana, led the scoring charge with 29 points, and 5 triples for the Eagles. 

 6-4, sophomore wing, Deshon Shorter added a big 15 points with 11 of those coming in the second half. Shorter hails from Dallas Texas' Wilmer-Hutchins High. 

 Tonight's contest was highly anticipated and an estimate of over 300 fans were in attendance to watch Mendocino host Gary Payton's College of Alameda. 

 In attendance was Upper Lake and Ukiah High School boys basketball programs as well as a multitude of youth basketball teams from both counties. 

 Mendocino College moves to 3-4 in league play and 10-9 on the year. They hit the road this Friday to face off with Merritt College of Oakland.
